Bir Al-Masharqa is one of the delegations of Zaghouan Governorate and is a crossing point between the north, center and south. It covers an area of 594 square kilometers and has an agricultural and industrial character. It includes 8 districts: Bir Al-Masharqa City, Bir Al-Masharqa Station, Dalail Al-Arous, Ain Asker, Jebel Al-Wast, Samenga, Boucha and Ain Al-Safsaf.
The municipality of Bir Al-Macharqa is located north of the city of Zaghouan, the center of the governorate. It covers an area of 31,146 hectares and has a population of 14,604 according to the latest statistics for the year 2014.
